What are Timed Events

This section is primarily run to organise Comp Safari events, these events are usually over the length of two to three miles and vehicles are timed from the start to the finish, these times are then converted into points, the person with the lowest score over the day is the winner.

There are many different types of ground that Safaris are run on, some are quite short and technical like many trials sections linked together and others are long and flat running through open fields and woodland. The events attract varied vehicles from standard 80’s to V8 coil sprung 88’s.

The main roles as secretary of this section involve

• Booking Land
• Organising competitors
• Writing reports for the journal
• Attending committee meetings
• Looking after the equipment
• General organisation on the day

This section has seen a boost in interest over the past twelve months with the club investing in new equipment making the job a lot easier and reducing the number of people required to run an event.

Full vehicle regulations for competing in Comp Safari events can be found in the green ALRC year book or alternatively on the web at ALRC regulations
