February Report 2012
First my apologies for the confusion on the Calendar of events in the Journal.
The proposed half term rally site at Rutland Water is in the process of being upgraded with electric hook ups etcetera and will not be open in time for our rally so following I have decided to fall back on our usual venue for February at The Forestry Commission Site at Beddgellert in Snowdonia. (note date change)
The proposed March venue has now been changed from Upper Heyford to Warmington,
The Upper Heyford site is no longer cost effective.
Rally Officer volunters are required to run the following events
4 to 7 May at Wagtail.
26 to 30 July Welland Steam Fair.
Beddgelert - 3 to 11 February 2012
Beddgelert Forestry Commission Site
Bedgellert,
Gwynedd.
LL55-4UU.
Map ref OS 115-578-490.
We have used this full facility site with hot showers, toilets, drying rooms and a small shop on site on many previous years.
This site is surrounded the most stunning countryside, an abundance of lakes and gorgeous mountains. Some very good beach walks and miles of footpaths just waiting to be explored.
A short walk to the village of Beddgelert via a very good camping supplier to its small shops and some excellent Inns.
Please book in direct with the site on arrival or to book in advance ring the site office on. 0845137633
Look forward to seeing you there.
Warmington 9 - 11 March 2012
Fir Tree Farm,
Warmington.
Near Banbury.
Oxfordshire.
OX17 1JL.
This is a very quiet and secluded site with hard standings and electric hook ups. Some excellent shower and toilet facilities The site overlooks two small lakes and some stunning local scenery. There are dog walking areas and some good local foot paths. The Sunday morning path footpath often leads to the local pub.
This is an ideal site to start the seasons camping and an opportunity for some of the many caravan owning members to join the regulars for a week end in the fresh air, and at £11-00 per unit night it is a bargain.

Holiday Rally 2012
This year’s holiday rally will run from Wednesday 1st August through till Wednesday 15th August 2012, and is to be held by kind permission of Nick & Claire Gillingham and family at
Walkmill, Warkworth, Nortumberland, NE65 9AJ.
These dates have been selected to allow members to attend the Welland Steam Fair weekend and also the Party in the Park weekend if they wish.
This farm location is in the beautiful and unspoilt village of Walkworth which is approx halfway between Newcastle and Berwick Tweed on the east coast of Northumberland. The site is a farmer’s field (adjacent to a CC 5 van site) which gently slopes down to the River Coquet which runs on three sides of the field. The river and surrounding countryside is home to wildlife including badgers, owls, deer, kestrels, buzzards, herons, kingfishers, pheasants, hares, rabbit’s otters and may be the odd salmon and trout.
The village of Walkworth, which has some interesting shops, cafes, restaurants and of course some pubs, is approx 2.5 miles away.
Walkworth sandy beach is approx 4.5 miles away. The beach is approx 7 miles long running north from Amble towards Seaton Point. There is a car park by the harbour and marina area in Amble. Many other fabulous beaches at Alnmouth, The Sugar Sands at Longhoughton & Embleton Bay are worthy of a visit.
There are numerous castles to visit nearby at Alnwick, Lindisfarne & Dunstanborough and of course Walkworth.
Trips to the Farne Islands Holy Island & Lindisfarne run during the summer from nearby Seahouses.
The site has no shower or toilet facilities, just a fresh water supply and an elsan disposal point. Therefore your own facilities are essential
The fee per unit night will be £12-00

New Members
A note for any new members who would like to come along for a camping or caravanning weekend, just give us a ring with any questions you might have and we will happily try to answer them. It would be great to see some new faces, joining the familiar ones at our weekend get togethers. A gentle reminder – most of our campers when arriving at an event do, call and see the Rally Officers before selecting their pitch, but there are one or two naughty ones who do not. Please please book in with the Rally Officer so that everyone knows who is there and who is with the Midland Rover Owners Club.
We look forward to seeing you out and about in your tent or caravan.
PLEASE TELEPHONE ME AND VOLUNTEER AS A RALLY OFFICER FOR ANY OF THE EVENTS IN THIS YEARS CALENDAR.
