From the Chairman - Jan 2012
Dear Members
Happy New Year!
Well the first event of December was a brilliant one that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. I am talking about the Karting event so well organised by Sam, even if it nearly wiped me out due to a chest infection! We had a good turn out with a friendly but competitive atmosphere; I am sure there will be a write up in the journal somewhere.
In the December journal there was an article about the ALRC & NFU. This was to gauge the amount of our members that had NFU insurances so the NFU could see if it was worth continuing to support the ALRC. The committee discussed this at some length and, due to no feedback being received from our members, decided we could not give this information out. We trust this was the right decision and the ALRC have been informed.
Another interesting event that has been put to us is from Derek Spooner, who has been contacted by the Dutch Land Rover Register. They have great memories of being at Eastnor for the 50th Anniversary event and would like to come over in 2013 to celebrate Land Rovers 65th and their own 20th anniversary. We are offering for them to join us for the Party in the Park weekend whereby I hope we can all make them feel very welcome - perhaps as has happened previously we could venture to Holland for a holiday rally?
The club Christmas Party was a great evening! Santa turned up in his Land Lover Sledge, (thanks to Steve Smith – a sterling job…you have set yourself a very high standard for next year!!). Sam entertained the kids with games, helped by Marie Heaven, and organised the usual great spread of food and the raffle and we all had a very pleasant social evening. Certainly something to look forward to next year – many thanks go to Sam from all of us.
Finally, I was working at Baddesley Clinton the other week and they had come across some pictures taken from the Land Rover 50th run and thought I may like to have copies of them, so I have sent them to Sarah and Tim for them to go in the journal and on the web – I hope you enjoy looking through them.
Here’s hoping 2012 is a better year for all and brings us a new CCVT sec and ROW sec.
Thanks for your support.
Richard
