S&S Baden Hall Trials : 4 MROC CCV drivers survived 12 challenging sections set out by Staffs & Shrops on Saturday (25 drivers in total). Well done to all for MROC results including 1st ~ 3rd in Class & 3rd & 4th overall. Poor MROC turnout in the RTV of 1 driver (Me !). 10 great RTV sections & a great mix of vehicles  from Series, through Defenders to Disco 1, Disco 2 & great condition Range Rover Classic (although only 14 overall).
TYRO trial on Monday was well attended by MROC drivers !

Welland Steam Rally : Booking is Open ! See the Event info below for more details.

Easter Activities : MROC's Easter activities are now over for another year. Saturday's TYRO was well attended & in brilliant sunshine. The RTV, TT & camping & caravanning attendance was down on previous Eastnor attendances - but probably not a surprise as there were so many rival events on over the weekend. Monday's CCV Timed Trial was "damp" to start with, but the weather did then improve fortunately. Thanks to all who took part & even more so to the few who helped put on all of the events. Results can be seen here.

2023 Events Calendar Meeting : The meeting took place via Zoom on the 19th Dec. Calendar updates will be announced as & when confirmed.

Green Laning : Great day spent touring 20 lanes in the Peak District yesterday (11th Dec.). 3 Discovery 2s & 1 Freelander 1 - problem free all day - lol. Snow on the ground in the Midlands as I set off was slightly worrying, but conditions in the Peak District were fine, just cold & unfortunately overcast - which removed / restricted some of the best views. However still some great countryside & very scenic with a nice lunch halt at a ford near Over Haddon. There are a few photos on our Facebook  page.
The route is ready to repeat whenever there's enough demand, so if anyone wants to either participate or lead a 4 or 5 car group, please get in touch & we can talk you through the info we have & work to get another date agreed.

Membership Cards : For info: New Members will now receive a "digital" membership card rather than a physical card as in the past. The digital "card" can be saved on your mobile phone & hopefully will be harder to lose (& faster / cheaper to replace if you do !).  In principle the card  is used as  the digital  Ms UK RS Clubman  Competition Licence introduced a couple of years ago.
Existing "physical" membership cards will continue for paid-up members until either lost or they request a change to a new digital card. Additional info here on the Membership page.

Roger Cooper : Roger Cooper passed away on the 27th August 2022. Please see Obituaries for more info.

Major's 2023 NOT Taking Place : Confirmation of what some of you have already heard : We have received communication from Eastnor Estate, that for the foreseeable future MROC will no longer be able to run events in the Estate's woodlands. Various reasons have been cited by the Estate for this decision, the primary of which being the commercial pressures and legislative constraints for land use.

This does mean that Easter at Eastnor and the Majors will not be running at Eastnor for the foreseeable future.

We would like to be clear that MROC and its members are still welcome at the Deer Park for Caravan and Camping.

As a club we are currently evaluating other sites for suitability for 2-day events, to also include the availability of camping / caravans and to provide enough challenging sections for the competitors. Should any member have an idea of land or sites that could be used by the club for events, the committee would be grateful for any contacts or introductions.
We want our membership to be assured that we will continue to maintain a relationship with Eastnor Estate in the hope that in the future we may be able to return to this site.

Roy Fazakerley : Long standing life member of the club Roy died unexpectedly on 16th November.

Roy spent time on the Club committee as Club Shop, Caravanning and Treasurer.

He was a very keen trials competitor and caravaner in the 70’s and 80’s and made many friends.

He spent less time with the club when he and his wife June bought the Tally-Ho, a country pub near Tenbury Wells which they ran until recently. They left the pub to enjoy retirement on their narrowboat. Unfortunately Roy’s underlying illness meant that they could not go out boating as much as they would have liked to do. Roy will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His funeral was held at Wyre Forest Crematorium on 9th December.

CCV Timed Trial : Great event yesterday (Sunday) in great weather this year. 14 drivers were subjected to some challenging sections set out By Russell Cook & Steve Blakeman ( I think the drivers shoulders will be suffering !) Provisional results : 3rd Steve Limb, 2nd Jake Jepps, Winner Hamish Grundy. Finalised & detailed results HERE !

Old Event Photos : Links to lots of old event photos have now been re-instated on the Gallery webpage. Our website's limitations mean access is not as "visual" as we'd like, but we're sure you'll easily get the hang of it. There's list of the events at the bottom of the page, ordered by year, month & location - from 2002 onwards ! Just scroll down the list & click on a folder to see all of the related photos.

Club AGM : The AGM took place on Wednesday evening. Thanks to the 25 members who came along & contributed ! With the exception of Sam Sharp & Kelly Cole who stood down earlier in the year, all of last year's committee were re-elected. Thanks to Sam & Kelly for their contribution over their years on committee. Big thanks to Alex Griffiths who was voted in as TYRO coordinator to grow our TYRO trials activity & hopefully get more of our younger and less experienced drivers competing. Hopefully we'll also have someone in the Green Laning role soon too ! The minutes will be published in due course.

Rob Guilding : More sad news. Rob passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 16th. Rob will be well known to many of our older members as a keen competitor and for the many events that took place at the family home, Leys Farm in Herefordshire in the 1980s & for giving the off-roading "bug" to daughter Liz (our Club Chair)  & son Will. Rob joined the Club back in 1979 & until recently 1 was of 3 generations of Guilding's in the Club. Our condolences go out to the family in this difficult time.

Debbie Rock : The Club sends its condolences to Phil Rock & family for the loss of his wife Debbie who passed away on Monday, Oct 10th after a long uphill battle with health issues. It's been quite some time since she was involved in Club activities, but will be known to many as a cheerful, helpful, caring and kind soul. Phil has sent a message : Thank you for all the kind messages and cards. Thanks again, Phil

Beryl Oakden : The Club sends its condolences to Peter Oakden & family for the loss of his wife Beryl, who passed away on the 6th Sept. Peter is still a member of the Club after joining more than 50 years ago. Peter & Beryl were very active members of the Club & Beryl was key support for Peter in various roles in MROC & 10 years as Chairman of the ARC (now the ALRC). Both were keen supporters of our caravan & camping rallies & were regular attendees at the annual Welland Steam Rally. The Funeral service was at Bretby Crematorium (DE15 0QE) at 1PM on Friday 7th of October.
Peter would like to thank those who have either directly or indirectly sent condolences, your thoughts are much appreciated.

Major's 2 day CCV Trial (Sept) : Wow, what an event ! 31 teams (93 drivers) entered with more than an additional 100 passengers & marshals / officials!
See the separate Major's website for results & more info. It was a dry event, but very challenging & lots of fun as usual !

Debbie Rock : Phil has sent a message : Thank you for all the kind messages and cards.  Folk have asked for details of any funeral arrangements, so this is what is planned so far : Debbie wanted an unattended cremation, as she hated any normal funerals, so that will be going ahead soon.  There won’t be anywhere to send flowers, I’m afraid, but we will publish the option of a charity donation in Debbie’s memory soon.
We’re trying to arrange a memorial get-together with a buffet, possibly on Friday 25th Nov. in the Solihull area.  This may have to change if venues get booked up. It would be really helpful if those who’d like to attend could let me know a.s.a.p by email or phone, with a contact email or phone number if possible, so I can confirm date/time and location. Thanks again, Phil.

Baden Hall RTV & CCV May Day Trials : We had 4 CCV drivers, but only 1 RTV driver at the Staffs & Shrops trials on the Saturday of the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. The CCV was well attended  - requiring 3 separate groups for the mix of ALRC & non ALRC cars. 12 great sections & great weather ! See our FB  page for lots of videos / photos & lots of "air" - lol.

The AGM took place last night (Wed 4th Nov) with a good turnout of members & a review of last years activities. The committee for next year was voted in & is as last year, but with the addition of Russell Cook accepting the role as Trials Coordinator & Kelly Cole standing down as Social Sec after 5 years of organising events for us. Full meeting minutes will appear later in the Club Journal.

Sad News:  Long term active member of the Club, Kathy Armstrong passed away on the 7th August. Kathy will be sadly missed by family & friends & the many people she interacted with via Club events over the 40+ years with us. Our best wishes go out to husband Martin & the rest of the family.
